TL;DR: Infura and Truffle expand to Polygon, adding API and Infrastructure Support enabling developers on Polygon to build superior Web 3.0 Applications, including a Polygon Truffle Box for new devs.

Read the announcement from Infura here.

Today, we are excited to announce Infura and Truffle support for Polygon — Ethereum’s Internet of Blockchains. We’re thrilled to work with developers in the Ethereum and Polygon ecosystem and help them build superior Web 3.0 Applications.

Polygon has seen widespread adoption with over 250 dApps, ~58 Million txns and ~685,000 unique users, enabling high-quality user experiences for top dApps like Polymarket, Aave, Aavegotchi, Curve.finance, Decentral Games, and Neon District. Developers on Polygon can now use Infura’s API services to seamlessly build and deploy user-friendly, fast and secure Web 3.0 Applications.

This pairs nicely with Infura’s community of over 20,000 active developers who have built some of the top applications on Ethereum using Infura and Truffle. We believe that we closely align on the mission to deliver the best infrastructure and tools for developers to build fantastic Web 3.0 applications.

Polygon is one of the first well-structured, easy-to-use platforms for Ethereum scaling and infrastructure development. Polygon aims to become a Layer 2 Aggregator for Ethereum, through our core component, the Polygon SDK, a modular, flexible framework that supports building and connecting Secured Chains like Plasma, Optimistic Rollups, zkRollups, Validium, and Standalone Chains like the Polygon Commit Chain.

Experiencing a lot of demand for Polygon support from developers within the larger Ethereum community, we are excited to unite Infura and Polygon’s communities, further growing the decentralized Internet and Web3 community.

The Infura Polygon network API essentially utilizes the same JSON RPC specification as Ethereum, and Infura will support all the necessary API methods for building a fully functional application on the Polygon network. To get started, all you have to do is add the new Polygon Network Add-on to your account. To do this, login to your Infura account, go to your Ethereum workspace/project list and click to upgrade your plan.

From here, you will see the new Network Add-ons section, select the Polygon network add-on

You will be taken to a quick checkout page where you can finalize your account changes, and you will be all set up and ready to go!

You can find all of the documentation for the new APIs here. If you have any questions, feedback, or just want to chat, reach out to us at our community page.

Our friends at Truffle are also adding a great new tool to help developers start building right away on the Polygon network. The new Truffle CLI integration will simplify the process by which a developer can instantiate, compile, and deploy an application vis-a-vis Polygon PoS, using a boilerplate Polygon Truffle project (a “Truffle Box”). In addition to enabling development for Polygon PoS, The Polygon Truffle Box includes detailed instructions for configuring and using a Truffle project to interact with the Polygon PoS chain. Both Infura and Truffle will support the Polygon PoS mainnet and Mumbai testnet. You can access all of the new Truffle Polygon tools here.

We are thrilled to have Polygon added to Infura’s development suite and we can’t wait to see all of the amazing applications built with these tools. We will continue to strive to make the development experience on Polygon a world-class one, and work closely with Infura and Truffle to bring greater developer adoption to Ethereum and Polygon.
