Plonky2 is Now Open-Source

No items found.

Earlier this year, Polygon announced Plonky2, a zero-knowledge proving system that represents a major breakthrough for ZK tech. Plonky2 offers two main benefits: incredibly fast proofs and extremely efficient recursive proofs. It’s a huge leap forward for the ZK space, and we’ve been blown away by the response from the developer community: people want to build on Plonky2.

Today we’re proud to announce that Plonky2 and Starky are open source. They are now dual-licensed under the MIT license and Apache2.

This means that developers now have access to Starky, which we believe is the fastest STARK prover in existence (certainly the fastest open source STARK prover), and Plonky2, which offers incredibly fast recursion. Both can be used on Ethereum (and other blockchains) today.

ZK tech offers the best hope for scalability and privacy on Ethereum, but proof generation has historically been too expensive and slow to be practical for anything but simple applications. Plonky2 fixes this, and it’s a core part of how we’re scaling Ethereum. We’re excited to share it with the developer community.

That’s it! Feel free to use Plonky2 within the bounds of this license. We’re excited to see what you do with it. Please reach out to us if you have any questions. You can dive into the details of Plonky2 and our other tech on our Github, and our developers are always prepared to answer substantive technical questions on our Discord

Tune in to the Polygon Blog for the latest on zero-knowledge proofs and let's bring the world to Ethereum!
