Flipkart to Launch Polygon CDK-Powered Chain to Scale FireDrops

FireDrops Web3 loyalty program has attracted over 3.3 million wallets since September launch

Flipkart, one of India's leading digital commerce entities, is launching a dedicated chain built with Polygon Chain Development Kit (CDK) to scale its FireDrops Web3 loyalty program.

FireDrops 2.0, powered by Hang’s loyalty platform, aims to transform user engagement with brands by offering millions of Flipkart users with rewarding experiences, incentivizing brand loyalty through gamification. FireDrops envisions a future where a loyalty layer allows users who have a track record with a brand to unlock larger rewards, get early access to discount pricing for products in high demand and allow for more interesting and creative ways for users to earn rewards from their favorite brands.

Since its launch in September, FireDrops has attracted over 3.3 million wallets holding at least one NFT, with almost a third belonging to women. Flipkart is tapping Polygon CDK to build an Ethereum-based zero knowledge (ZK) Layer 2 network dedicated to the service and ensure future growth. Flipkart made the announcement at Polygon Connect India.

Polygon CDK makes it easy for developers to design and launch ZK L2s on Ethereum and is already used by projects including OKX, Astar, Canto, Gnosis Pay, Palm, and IDEX. In the future, Polygon CDK-deployed chains can be interoperable and unified within a broader web of ZK-powered L2s in the Polygon CDK ecosystem.

A bespoke blockchain gives Flipkart a number of customization options, including a fine-tuned onboarding experience, dedicated blockspace and low transaction fees for its users. Future upgrades to Polygon CDK will also allow for enhanced privacy for transaction data, the ability to run the chain without a token or to use a central bank digital currency and access to liquidity in the greater Polygon and Ethereum ecosystems.
