Lumia is on a Mission to Tokenize the World–and They’ll Be Doing it on Agglayer
Lumia is a new chain launched with Polygon CDK custom-built to tokenize real-world assets on Agglayer, including a tokenized real estate development worth over $220 million, the first native dApp layer to go live on a dedicated RWA chain.
Lumia, a major player in real-world asset (RWA) tokenization, is building a RWA-focused chain with Polygon CDK and connecting to Agglayer.
By combining Lumia’s advanced RWA infrastructure with Polygon CDK’s high-performance stack, this move establishes a powerful onchain framework for both DeFi and traditional finance, aimed to unlock the potential of the $10+ trillion RWA market by 2030. Lumia is doing more to tokenize the world than any other player in crypto, and now they’ll be doing it on Agglayer and, by extension, the broader Polygon ecosystem.
Here are some of the massive RWA milestones that Lumia is bringing to Agglayer:
- The Lumia Towers development, a $220m development plan–complete with tokenization of two skyscrapers. Lumia Towers will soon be breaking ground in Istanbul, and will be the most valuable tokenized real estate development in world history.
- Shyft wallet debuting as the first dApp in the Lumia ecosystem–the first native dApp ecosystem to be developed on a dedicated RWA chain. This is just the first of over 15 scheduled dApp releases on Lumia.
- Policy leadership in the global RWA industry. Lumia is working closely with a variety of governments–including Turkey–and private organizations on scaling and innovating in the RWA space. Stay tuned for more announcements–and remember that it’s all happening on Agglayer!
While others talk the talk about RWAs, no one is walking the walk with Lumia’s boldness. And as is so often the case, the Polygon ecosystem is yet again where the really big shifts in Web3 happen. Lumia building with Polygon CDK and connecting to Agglayer represents a paradigmatic transformation of RWAs across the entire industry–and it’s only the beginning. What is Lumia Chain?Lumia’s mission to take tokenized RWAs to untold heights is clear, and already taking shape. But there’s also some exciting, innovative tech under the hood. The Lumia chain is a next-generation, ultra capital-efficient, hyper-liquid zkEVM that fuses the cutting-edge capabilities of Polygon CDK, AvailDA, private DACs, Agglayer, Gevolut, custom AVS, chain abstraction, account abstraction, and more. Co-developed by GatewayFM (RaaS) and the Lumia tech team, Lumia Chain aims to eliminate bottlenecks like low liquidity, limited interoperability, and unsustainable token models. Here are some key Lumia features:
- Custom Redundancy DAC: A specialized data availability committee that bolsters data reliability and uptime.
- Lumia Stream: A native liquidity network that aggregates liquidity from multiple sources, ensuring high capital efficiency for builders and traders.
- Decentralized Sequencers & zkProvers: An ongoing effort to distribute these roles, minimizing points of failure and enhancing security.
- Fast Finality & Validity Proofs: Rapidly confirms transactions while leveraging zero-knowledge proofs for robust on-chain verification.
Polygon CDK: The Backbone of LumiaLumia is taking full advantage of the native Polygon tech stack in making this move to Agglayer. To start with, Lumia is harnessing the power of Polygon CDK–an open-source toolkit for deploying and configuring chains powered by Polygon zkEVM technology. Polygon CDK provides a flexible and dynamic toolkit to all builders, including these highlights:
- Modularity & Sovereignty: A flexible environment for designing ZK-powered L2 chains, letting Lumia fine-tune architecture for specific use cases.
- Scalability: Enables an elastically scalable ecosystem with higher throughput and lower fees.
- Data Availability Options: While CDK features a built-in DA committee, Lumia opts for EigenDA for more decentralization and resilience.
- Seamless Interoperability (in progress): Through Agglayer, Lumia will be able to enable efficient, atomic transactions between L2 <> L2 chains.
In short, CDK is a game-changer for launching custom L2 solutions like Lumia, and it’s providing a huge boost to the potential for skyrocketing RWA value on Lumia.
Changing the RWA Game on Agglayer: Unlocking Cross-Chain Potential
The Agglayer is the key to bridging ZK-enabled L2 and L1 chains, and will enable near-instant cross-chain transactions along with unified liquidity. Beyond scaling a single chain’s throughput, Agglayer will tackle the broader challenge of shared state across multiple chains. Lumia is taking advantage of this opportunity to bring the benefits of Agglayer to their sizable RWA portfolio.
By connecting seamlessly to Agglayer, Lumia will benefit from:
- Enhanced Interoperability: Smooth transfers and communication among a wide ecosystem of connected chains.
- Shared Liquidity: Aggregating liquidity across networks to reduce fragmentation, making it easier for users and developers to navigate DeFi or RWA projects.
- Low-Latency Cross-Chain Ops: Near-instant finality that elevates user experience and fosters more complex multi-chain dApps.
Revolutionary Architecture on Polygon: Building a Capital-Efficient RWA EcosystemFar from simply making a generic leap over to the Polygon ecosystem, Lumia is using Polygon CDK and the potential of Agglayer in specific, innovative ways. One ingredient of the secret sauce behind Lumia’s transition to Polygon is its integration with Erigon 12, part of the Polygon CDK. Erigon 12 brings modular architecture that accelerates block processing, setting the stage for a shared ZK-prover network slated for March 2025. In parallel, Lumia is poised to work with Gateway for elastic block queues, cutting block times from 3.5–4.1 seconds to around 200 milliseconds—an enormous leap in speed and user experience.Lumia’s architecture thus merges several cutting-edge components:
- Polygon CDK: Establishes Lumia as a rollup chain, powered by Polygon zkEVM tech.
- AvailDA: A decentralized data availability solution offloading transaction data from Ethereum, reducing costs and congestion.
- Agglayer: Provides a cross-chain liquidity and messaging layer, connecting Lumia with other blockchains in the ecosystem.
- Lumia Stream: A unified liquidity module aggregating liquidity from both centralized and decentralized venues, designed for frictionless market-making.
- Advanced User Experience:
- Chain & Account Abstraction: Simplifies asset management and interaction flows by allowing convenient sign-in methods without compromising security.
- Custom AVS (Actively Validated Services): Adds extra layers of security and validation, starting with TheRadius for MEV protection.
- Decentralized Sequencers (In Progress): A forthcoming update ensures more robust security by removing any single point of failure in ordering transactions.
By assembling this stack, Lumia achieves ultra-fast transaction times, heightened liquidity, and secure data management—core elements for bringing tokenized RWAs to a global audience.Lumia Foundation and Sen Group: A Powerhouse RWA CollaborationAs exciting as Lumia’s recent announcements have been, there’s even more to come, thanks in part to a major collaboration.Lumia Foundation and Sen Grup are working under a $1B+ framework agreement to tokenize an entire real estate portfolio—an industry first. Showcased at the World Economic Forum in Davos on January 23, these properties highlight how tokenization can integrate with DeFi for fractional ownership, trading, lending, and more.“Investor interest has been strong from the outset,” says Kal Ali of the Lumia Foundation. “By tapping into DeFi rails, these assets become accessible to smaller investors, shattering traditional capital barriers in real estate.”Highlights of the Lumia/Sen collaboration include:
- $1B+ Tokenized Real Estate: A ground-breaking example of on-chain RWA adoption.
- Regulatory Compliance: Lumia Foundation and Sen Grup concluded the required legal framework within six months under Turkish legislation.
- RWA Market Potential: Building on the momentum of BlackRock’s 2024 entry into RWAs, experts predict the sector could surpass $10 trillion by 2030.
