The first class of our Polygon Fellowship, powered by Devfolio, was launched in June-July 2022 and is the embodiment of #WAGMIonPolygon ethos. We’re pushing collaborative learning alongside individual vision.

Over the next eight weeks, 50 fellows will learn to build on Polygon, find a community of builders, and pursue the project of their dreams. We plan to expand the Polygon Fellowship to other regions in the future but our first year begins from where we started — India.

We were really excited to tap into India’s robust 5.8 million strong developers. Accordingly, the response was overwhelmingly positive. More than 10,000 registrations were received with only 50 slots, split between beginner and builder tracks.

Some tough choices had to be made. To provide some context, the acceptance rate for global elite institutions like MIT, Stanford, and Harvard stood at 7.3%, 5.2%, and 5%, respectively. In comparison, the acceptance rate for the Polygon fellowship was a mere 0.7%.

We deeply appreciate the interest shown and firmly believe that Web3 belongs to all.

To that end, we make our resources: Polygon Academy for education, Polygon Village for business resources, and Polygon Developer Library to help devs participate in the build cycle through hackathons publicly available.

Meet The Fellows

For convenience, we’ve divided the fellows into two tracks: Beginner and Builder, with 25 of them in each cohort. So help us celebrate and share the breathtaking talent with the world, below!

Beginner Track Fellows

The beginner track fellows are made up of students and professionals from across India, focussing on their transition from Web2 to Web3. They’ll primarily master Web3 fundamentals covering a wide range of topics including but not restricted to DAOs, NFTs, gaming, tooling, and storage, through remote workshops and seminars.

In addition, all fellows are paired in small groups with seasoned Web3 mentors who will help them build on Polygon in weekly jam sessions. During the course time, fellows will put to practice what they’ve learned and build a project each. And at the end of each week, they will assess their learning journey and share their experiences.

And to top it off, fellows will have the distinct opportunity to come in person with leading Web3 gurus and investors to pitch their valuable ideas.

Builder Track Fellows

The Builder Track Fellows are already accomplished, professional Web3 devs looking to deepen their presence by building on Polygon. Some come with years of experience including working on protocols like Solana and leading startups as CTOs. During the eight weeks, each fellow will be matched with a mentor who will guide them through the projects they’re already working on.

Besides, each mentor brings along specific expertise. For instance, fellows working on gaming will be paired with a game studio master. Likewise, fellows working on NFTs will be paired with an accomplished overlord in the NFT sphere.

And like the Beginner Track, at the end of the fellowship, all Builder Fellows will assemble at a hacker house to demonstrate their work. In addition, the house will provide an excellent venue for community-building, networking, and to meet potential investors.

Across both the tracks, the goal is to empower our fellows, who can then carry on to build and onboard the next billion users onto Web3.

We thank you for your enthusiasm and look forward to more such fellowships. Learn more about future opportunities on our blog. Alternatively, join our Discord, sign up for our Web3Camp program, and follow us on Twitter.
