Polygon is partnering with enterprise-grade Web3 infrastructure platform Kaleido to give businesses the power to build custom blockchains tailored to their needs.

Kaleido will leverage Polygon Edge, a modular framework for bootstrapping Ethereum-compatible networks, to meet surging demand from enterprises looking to launch services in Web3. Polygon Edge is available on Kaleido starting July 21. The offering will also eventually include Polygon Supernets, a fast-track for building application-specific chains, as well as other Polygon leading technologies.

Enterprises in industries ranging from financial services and supply chain to retail and health care are increasingly eager to explore what open and decentralized blockchain-based applications can do for their businesses. But launching on a public network like Ethereum is fraught with challenges that include privacy concerns and unpredictable transaction fees. The Polygon-Kaleido partnership paves the way for enterprises building bespoke blockchain with the right mix of scalability, security, cost, and openness.

“The partnership between Kaleido and Polygon is a landmark step for the Web3 space,” said Steve Cerveny, Co-Founder, and CEO of Kaleido. “It is concrete evidence that the scalability, cost, and privacy solutions of public chain ecosystems now meet the requirements of enterprises.”

The partnership will also allow enterprises to harness Polygon’s suite of solutions that is similar to what Amazon Web Services offers Web2 developers -- a tool for every possible use case and scaling at a click of a button. For Web3, Polygon PoS already offers a carbon-neutral execution layer with low fees and high transaction throughput secured by the Ethereum mainnet. In the near future, Polygon Avail will deliver the general-purpose, scalable data availability piece of the puzzle and zero-knowledge solutions will make network congestion a thing of the past first and then tackle applications around privacy.

One of the first projects to harness Polygon Edge via Kaleido will be Core+, a stealth mode start-up with a vision to democratize trade finance accessibility. Core+ will use blockchains to provide small and medium enterprises (SMEs) access to transactional financing and related tools, which were previously inaccessible, particularly to women-owned businesses and new generations of entrepreneurs in the developing world.

“The Polygon Edge framework was designed with enterprises in mind, to help them simplify and speed up the process of building and launching their own customizable and secure Ethereum-compatible Blockchain networks,” says Antoni Martin, co-founder of Polygon Hermez. “Kaleido provides the enterprise ‘easy button’ and has the deep expertise gained from running thousands of enterprise chains over the last four years.”
