Farcaster Frames is cooking 🧑‍🍳

Mint an NFT, sign up for an event, place a bet on a prediction market onchain: Frames embeds the ability to do all of this directly from your Farcaster feed—and now with support for Polygon PoS transactions.

Polymarket, the breakthrough app in this season of chaos, has built a Frame. Users can make predictions through Polymarket posts, with native Polygon PoS integration.

To get more cooks cooking, a new grants track, part of the first season of the Community Grants Program (CGP), will focus on Farcaster Frames builders. Powered by Gitcoin, this grant round will tap into a pool of 500k MATIC—funding that comes directly from the Community Treasury 1,000,000,000 POL grants program.

The goal of GCP is to get Polygon builders the funds they need, when they need it.

So here’s your sweet call-to-action, bb:

  •  if you're building on Polygon PoS, try Frames
  •  if you're a Frames builder on Farcaster, build on Polygon PoS

(Soon, you’ll get AggLayer-pilled. All roads lead to the AggLayer. It has been foretold.)

Sooooooooo, let’s go thru what you need to know about Farcaster Frames, and what the forthcoming grants program will index for.

Grant applications are open!

Tell me, oh wise one, what is Farcaster Frames?

Farcaster Frames enables builders to turn any cast (i.e., any post on Farcaster) into an interactive app.

Drilling down a bit: Frames is a standard for creating interactive and authenticated experiences on Farcaster. Builders can create polls, live feeds, or interactive galleries—and a whole lot else—inside Warpcast or any other Farcaster client, with onchain integrations. Frames extends the OpenGraph standard and turns static embeds into interactive experiences.

Here’s a fun example: The viral Girl Scout cookie frame

Buy cookies directly on Farcaster without leaving your feed, eat them directly with your mouth.

The big guns are also out. Polymarket is the celebratory breakthrough crypto app of the season (built on Polygon PoS!) that has made creative use of Farcaster Frames, enabling users to register predictions within their feed.

Don’t look now, but Polymarket is exploding in volume 👀

So, but about that grants program…?

The Polygon community is celebrating Farcaster’s integration with a grants track dedicated to Farcaster Frames, and powered by Gitcoin.

As part of Season 01 of the Community Grants Program, this consumer-focused grant track will is accepting applications right now

Users will be able to tap into a pool of 500,000 MATIC specifically for Frame-work.

Gitcoin applications are already live, so go ahead and get started.

What projects are eligible for grants?

The two primary requirements for projects looking to get Framed:

  • Building with Farcaster Frames and implementing an onchain component on Polygon PoS
  • Building a consumer-focused Frame

Need ideas? Find your inspo in the Frames channel on Farcaster.

Just off the top of our heads, you could: build an onchain homage to 8-bit video games, to be played in Warpcast, or innovate a custom GPT within Frames.

What you build is up to you. Check out the Farcaster docs to get started. You can also get help from the Farcaster Devs channel, dip into the Frames Devs channel, or read through thirdweb’s take here.

And of course, follow Polygon on Farcaster and check out the Polygon docs. Go get ‘em!
