Polygon Commits $100,000 to Gitcoin Grants Round 13

No items found.

Polygon is pledging $100,000 to the Gitcoin Grants Round 13 as part of the continued efforts to support upcoming projects building on the Polygon ecosystem.

The latest Gitcoin grants round kicked off on March 9 and runs through March 24, 2022 with Polygon as one of the biggest contributors. The Polygon team has committed a total of $1 million to Gitcoin over five quarterly grants rounds through December 2022 continues to encourage and actively contribute to the developer community building the foundations of Web 3.

What to build

Some focus areas to keep in mind:

  • Integrations and bridges
  • Cross-chain DeFi and NFT bridges, multisig apps integrations for Gnosis Safe on Polygon
  • Adding useful functionalities on top of Polygon NFT minter
  • Tools/gaming engine plugins to ease gaming integration with Polygon
  • Analytics & dashboards
  • Connext dashboard showing inflows and outflows from other blockchain platforms to Polygon
  • Dune Analytics dashboards showcasing interesting figures and comparisons of different Polygon DApps
  • Dapps
  • NFT/gaming
  • DeFi
  • DAO tooling/governance protocols

Who is eligible

To be eligible for the grant, your project needs to fulfill the following key eligibility factors:

  • The grant must support or directly advance the Polygon community, the protocol, or both. The product should either already be deployed or should be in the planning phase of deployment on Polygon.
  • The grant may not have any form of quid pro quo with financial value (a scenario in which a user gets some additional unique benefit/award in return for their donation).
  • The grant owner must be directly affiliated with the project, and the funds must go to the project.
  • The grant should be focused on accomplishing the following for Polygon:
  • Usability - improving the user experience
  • Community - growing the Polygon ecosystem
  • Tooling - improving the developer experience
  • The project should not have its own token, or have raised VC funding
  • The grant should be open source

Creating/Updating a Grant

To create a new grant and get it approved for matching from Polygon’s pool:

  • Head to Gitcoin.co and create a Grant
  • Select the Polygon tag and any other relevant tags for your grant.

Note: Grants are only eligible to receive contributions after approval. Grants need to be approved for listing on the Gitcoin decentralized funding platform, and the Polygon tag is subject to review and removal if eligibility criteria are not met.

To update an existing grant and receive matching from this pool:

  • Open a Github Issue here, requesting to add the Polygon tag to your grant.

Note: The Gitcoin team will verify that your grant qualifies based on Polygon’s eligibility policy. If eligible, your grant will be included in the round. Please allow 48-72 hours for this to be reflected.

How the Matching Round Works

The Gitcoin Grants Matching Round 13 uses Quadratic Funding, which is the mathematically optimal way to fund public goods in a democratic community. With QF the number of contributors matters more than the amount funded, giving power to the majority and not the wealthiest.

The matching pool will be $100,000 and paid out in DAI. Only donations during this round from March 9th to March 24th, 2022, will be counted towards the QF distribution of the matching funds.

Follow the Polygon Developers Twitter or connect with the team on Discord for more information on the Polygon Gitcoin Grants Round 13.

Register for Building Web3, a series of talks about the future of Web3 hosted by Polygon. The first installment is scheduled for March 17 and will feature speakers from Sequoia Capital India, Republic, Animoca, Variant Fund, Dune Ventures, and Kevin O’Leary. Keep up with the latest Polygon news on the blog!
