Polygon Developers on Infura Surge to Over 8,800 in January

Polygon News

Polygon ecosystem has hit a new milestone with decentralized app (dApp) developers on Infura's Web3 platform setting a fresh record.

The total number of Polygon PoS users on Infura reached 8,845 in January, more than tripling from about 2,500 at the start of July, Infura data shows. Subscription grew an average 26% month-on-month since August 2021.

Infura serves as the backbone for much of Ethereum’s blockchain development, serving 350,000 developers and major Web3 projects Uniswap, MakerDAO and Sorare. The combination of Infura’s tooling and infrastructure with Polygon’s low fees and eco-friendly consensus mechanism is rocket fuel for more than 7,000 dApps using the platform as of the end of January.

API calls by the top 100 Polygon users on Infura averaged a record 151 million daily in September. As developers optimized their API requests, those numbers came down to 96 million and 55 million in October and November respectively. With more teams joining the Polygon ecosystem, average daily calls climbed again to 114 million in December.

“The rise of developer demand for Polygon was impossible to miss,” said Infura's general manager Michael Godsey. “We are seeing tremendous growth in Polygon users and it is amazing to help them create innovative projects on Infura.”

Infura and Polygon go way back. In Infura’s early days, they were approached by a student who needed an upgraded plan for his project called Dagger that created complex API calls. The team thought his work was exciting and valuable to the greater ecosystem, so they set him up with a special free account that gave him the freedom to experiment unrestricted. That student was Polygon co-founder Jaynti Kanani.

These days, Polygon is a destination for some of the biggest Web3 platforms and developers, from DeFi projects such as lending platform Aave to luxury brands company Dolce & Gabbana and NFT marketplaces including OpenSea and Mark Cuban’s Lazy.com. In December, Uniswap’s community voted overwhelmingly in favor of deploying V3 of its protocol on Polygon, joining an already flourishing DeFi ecosystem that also includes blue chips like Curve, 0x, Balancer and 1inch.
